From My Heart to Yours: 51st Mission Conference

What an inspiring beginning to the 51st annual Mission Conference, as Rev. Dr. James Logan from Charlotte, N.C. preached a powerful sermon in both morning services based on the conference theme verse, Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Dr. Logan reminded us that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God, who enables us and empowers us to be the witnesses that we are called to be. To be a witness is to tell the truth about what we have seen and heard about God. The Spirit gives us the words and the power to share that truth.

On Sunday evening, Julie Riggs, a recent graduate of the University of Georgia, spoke with the congregation about how God has called her to share God’s love with women who work in the adult entertainment industry. Julie challenged the mostly young adult congregation to pray that God would give them a passion and a purpose to share God’s love with people in need. To hear such a clear challenge to mission from such a young woman was both powerful and uplifting.

I invite you to continue reading through the Book of Acts in the month of February and to pray for God’s blessing on the remainder of the Mission Conference. Most of all, pray that God would use you in all that you say and do to accomplish his mission in the world.

Grace and peace,
Scott
