At the July 10th meeting of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, the Presbytery approved the formation of a new church in the Atlantic Station area that will be co-pastored by Thomas and Beth Daniel. Yes, it’s true—Thomas, Beth, and their daughters are returning from Chicago to lead this effort of establishing a new Presbyterian church in midtown Atlanta.
Although the details are yet to be worked out with regard to exactly where the church will be located, the good news is that the Daniels are back in Atlanta. Without a doubt, NAPC will certainly be supportive of this effort to reach the unchurched in midtown and metropolitan Atlanta. Thomas and Beth and the Presbytery are clear that their intention is not to start a church that attracts members of existing congregations, but rather to start a church that reaches the unchurched. Such an undertaking is a big challenge, but God has blessed both Thomas and Beth with many gifts for ministry, and with God’s blessing, this effort will be successful according to God’s purpose. The Daniels are in the process of relocating from Chicago to Decatur, and they will begin their new ministry after September 1. Even as NAPC continues to grow and thrive, let us pray for the success of this new church development under the direction of Thomas and Beth.
Grace and peace,
Scott
