From My Heart to Yours--Summer activity and the Oswalds' departure

In the midst of my travels over these past several weeks to Honduras, Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), and a family reunion in Clemson, S.C., I have been encouraged by the good reports from NAPC. The staff and officers met in July for a joint meeting that focused exclusively on prayer, with special prayers offered for members, the congregation, the denomination, and the world. I have never heard of a strong and vital congregation that was not undergirded by the ministry of prayer. Please join the staff and officers in ongoing prayer for our life together and for our mission and ministry to one another and the world around us.

These summer months are providing our associate pastors with opportunities to use their gifts of preaching to encourage and inspire us; please continue to pray for them in the many ways that they serve us. Please also pray for me, as I use this time of the year to prayerfully prepare for the coming year’s preaching and programming, and as I, along with the Personnel Ministry Team, continue to address the church’s personnel needs. Inside you will notice a letter from Trey and Rachel Oswald announcing that they will be leaving NAPC so that Trey can pursue a Ph.D. in Church History in Scotland. Both Trey and Rachel have done an outstanding job in their respective ministries, and their leaving is a huge loss for us. However, we trust that even as God provides for them in this time of transition, God will provide for NAPC.

Finally, let us all rejoice in the wonderful response of our children and families to last week’s Vacation Bible School. It was successful in every way, and I am greatly encouraged by the ways that NAPC is sharing God’s love and grace with the children of our congregation.

Grace and peace,

Scott
