From My Heart to Yours--Your turn to get involved!

January at the annual staff/officer retreat, Rachael Oswald, our Coordinator of Children’s Ministries, along with Tim Gray, chair of the Children’s Ministries Team, spoke of the great need for additional congregational volunteers in the nursery and preschool discipleship ministries. Rachael and Tim spoke with passion and determination about the increasing numbers of young children in our congregation and the need for more volunteers to help. In effect, they “lit a fire” in the hearts of the staff and officers about a critical need in the church.

In a very satisfying way, word of this need has spread throughout the congregation and many volunteers have responded. These volunteers are being well trained and are now actively helping with this vital church ministry.

But guess what! We have several other vital church ministries in critical need of additional volunteers. Two such areas that have a great impact on Sunday morning worship are ushers (welcoming members and visitors and passing out bulletins) and “sound ministries” (helping with setup and monitoring of microphones during worship). Deacon Matthew Haisten (matthewh@intellinet.com) is organizing and training the ushers, and my assistant Melanie Toven (melanie@napc.org) is coordinating volunteers for sound.

If God is prompting you to get more involved in the church, then please consider serving in these ways. You can get involved one Sunday a month or multiple Sundays, depending on your interest and availability. One thing is for sure—we need your participation! Of course, we would love for you to serve in whatever way you feel inclined. Just let us know of your interest! Thanks so much.
